Holiday Week Marks Record-Breaking Surge In App Downloads

As smartphone and tablet sales continue to surge, Flurry is reporting that a record-breaking 1.2 billion mobile apps were downloaded during the week following Christmas. Not only is the jump 60% higher than an average week in the app world, but it also marks the biggest in Android and iOS history, passing the 1 billion download mark for the first time ever. The mobile analytics company's report goes on to estimate that roughly 20 million iOS and Android devices were activated during the days surrounding Christmas, further evidence of the inevitable movement towards a largely smartphone-dominated mobile world.
