Lowell Auditorium wanted to evoke its place in history by using a subtle, patriotic color scheme. AYC Media’s design team opted to stay away from the traditional red, white and blue colors, ultimately going with desaturated reds and civil war blues.
Their previous drop-down navigation bar had too many options, making it difficult for users to intuitively explore the site and access events and basic venue information. In place of drop down menus, AYC Media chose to place links to sub-pages as tabs within the interior of the main pages. Side tabs allow users to view the history, FAQ and local information pages without losing sight of the important info contained on the General Information page.
The homepage features an event slider above the fold so that users are instantly informed of Lowell Auditorium’s upcoming events. Beneath the event slider is a calendar that offers a preview of the event info with a link to the interior event page. A YouTube video slider, situated below the calendar, highlights new and exciting acts that are slated to perform. This admin-controlled section adds an important media element to keep the site looking fresh and vibrant.
A listing of upcoming events was placed on the right side of the website, and this module is actually carried throughout all pages of the site, giving users a quick glance of events that will serve to drive ticket sales.
