Why did you want to intern at AYC MEDIA?

I knew that I wanted to find an internship that had both a great energy and an environment in which I could learn and develop my skills...AYC Media had all of these things, plus awesome office decorations.

What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

A typical day in the office is easygoing, educational, genuinely fun, and definitely does not involve anything close to running errands or getting coffee.

 Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

In 10 years I see myself holding the kind of job that allows me to be constantly exercising my writing skills and my creativity while also making some kind of difference in my field.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know. 

I have an obsession with the French Revolution that started in the 8th grade, and no, it's not a phase.

 

Samantha Deluca

School: Philadelphia University

Why did you want to intern at AYC MEDIA?

I decided I wanted to intern at AYC Media after I attended their studio tour. Once I learned more about the work they produce, the process they use, and their work environment I knew it would be a great place to intern. Meeting all the fun and talented people who I would be working with was definitely a motivation to pursue this internship.

What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

That is a difficult question to answer because it seems like everyday I walk through the door there is something new going on. However, a few things do remain consistent; creativity, collaboration and laughter.

 Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

I hope to be working at a design firm as a graphic designer similar to AYC Media. I would like to work in a multi-discipline firm where I would be working closely with other professionals in other fields. I love collaborating with creative and talented people because amazing and innovative things happen.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know. 

Something interesting about myself would be my old nickname, which was Fish. In middle school I played softball and my coach decided that I needed a nickname. He begins to rattle off words that rhyme with my name: samurai, salmon and then fish and some how that stuck. So throughout middle school all of my softball team called me Fish and even to this day whenever I see my old softball coach he calls me Fish. Needless to say, people are quite perplexed when they hear this in public.  

 

Gina Salvatore

School: Philadelphia University 

Major/Focus: Graphic Design Communications

Why did you want to intern at AYC MEDIA?

After going on a studio tour of AYC and talking with everyone, it seemed like AYC would be a fun place to intern and would give me a lot of real experience in the design field. It was interesting to learn about everything they do, the people that work here, and what their work environment was like, and I knew it would be the combination of having my own creative freedom and having direction so that I could have a great experience & learn from it as well.

What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

Drinking a lot of coffee, meeting with Mike & Terry, and designing things! 

 Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

I want to be a graphic designer, working in a design firm like this. I hope to be in a place where there are people of different design fields working together, and where there's always something happening.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know. 

I played volleyball for 13 years and recently started coaching a team as well.

 

Chelsea Hillbert

School: Lehigh Carbon Community College

Major/Focus: Graphic Design

From: Whitehall, PA

Why did you want to intern at AYC MEDIA?

I thought the company showed potential in helping me grow as a graphic designer and after looking into AYC I was thoroughly impressed by their work as a collective.

What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

A relaxed environment, music in one ear and helpful comments in the other. 

Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

A full-time graphic designer (hopefully) in Philadelphia or New York City.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know. 

I'm double-jointed/almost circus level flexible. So if designing doesn't work out I have that to fall back on.

 

Greg Geiger

School: Philadelphia University

Major/Focus: Graphic Design

From: Langhorne, PA

Why did you want to intern at AYC MEDIA?

I decided to work at AYC because I wanted to get experience working at a design agency that takes on big name clients. I enjoy branding projects that involve a lot of conceptualizing and development. I also like switching gears and working on the marketing posters for all of the Anheuser Busch beers. I consider myself a beer advocate so It's fun making beer related posters. 

What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

I usually start the day with a short meeting to discuss the directions and designs we're currently working on. It is cool to see what everyone else is bringing to the table too just to get some fresh ideas. I spend the rest of the day developing and refining my designs. There's always great music playing in the office which helps me get in the zone.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

I always wanted to work for a record label designing album artwork or concert posters. Other than that, I'm interested in package design. I could see myself designing packaging for beer or some kind of food product. Ultimately, I'd love to get a position where I'm a creative director and have unlimited creative control.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know. 

I play guitar in a surf rock band called Swimtones.

 

Charlotte Higgins

School: Miami University 

Major/Focus: Interactive Media Studies/Web Development and Design

From: Wayne, PA

Why did you want to intern at AYC MEDIA?

I wanted to intern here because not only will the experience help me for the future, but I knew I would be learning from a great bunch of people who are willing to help and give me that extra push  I need.

What does a typical day in the office look like for you?

A typical day in the office for me would be to design flyers, design logos, test websites, and help code websites for AYC Media. 

Where do you see yourself in ten years? 

I am hoping to see myself working for a web design firm or at least doing some sort of design for a well-known company. 

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know. 

I have always had a passion for music, so I love singing, playing ukulele, and musical theater. It has been a part of my life for quite some time. A fun fact about myself is that I was the lead of the Radnor High School spring musical my senior year.
