New Hire: Welcome Jackie to the Team

Published:01/21/2016

What are you looking forward to the most about joining the team here at AYC?

I come from a writing background, so I’m excited for challenge of coming up with new ways to present that content online and being able to test out unique ideas.

Describe a typical day for you in the office.

A lot of my time is spent combing through social media platforms looking for news and trends. Research, brainstorming, writing copy and compiling data are also big aspects of the job.

What were you doing before you joined the team?

After finishing college, I backpacked through Europe and had an internship to avoid entering the “real world.”

Have any interesting hobbies?

Nothing too out of the ordinary. I love listening to podcasts, binge-watching TV shows, reading and going to concerts.

What’s your go-to music when you’re working?

I get easily distracted, so when I’m working I like something that I can zone-out to. Some of my go-to bands to listen to when I’m writing are The War on Drugs, Parquet Courts and Tame Impala.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know.

My sister and I started a Hot Sauce Festival when I was 10 and my whole extended family still participates every Labor Day weekend.

Want to share with us a project you have worked on in the past that you are most proud of?

I had the opportunity to interview some really interesting people when I was working as an arts reporter. One of my favorite stories was about a professor who specializes in the work of F. Scott Fitzgerald and was an advisor on the recent remake of the “The Great Gatsby.”

Have you seen any industry trends recently that inspired you?

As I said before, I’m really interested in podcasts. I love that the audiences are growing and more people are finding ways to incorporate audio content into their marketing strategies.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

When I started college my dad gave me a list of 10 life lessons that included stuff like, “Live within your means,” and “Read the New York Times everyday.” I should go back refresh my memory because it was funny and definitely had good advice.
