Welcome Michele to the Team

What are you looking forward to the most about joining the team here at AYC?

This is my first internship with an agency, so I'm mostly excited to learn about the industry and from everyone around me. I'm extremely interested in working with social media in the future, and I think AYC is giving me the experience needed in order to do so. The office also has a great atmosphere and I'm excited about getting to know everyone!

Describe a typical day for you in the office.

So far I'm still getting acquainted with my daily tasks. Every morning I research articles for AYC's client, Ironshore. Once they're approved, I compose tweets for their account. After that, I research real time moments and any industry trends that relate to Ironshore or AYC in general. I'm also responsible for engaging in community management and liking Instagram posts that are relative to AYC. During the afternoon, I've been researching different campaigns and brainstorming new campaign ideas that AYC could use.

What were you doing before you joined the team?

I recently graduated from the University of Scranton in May where I studied Journalism and Electronic Media. During my time at Scranton I worked for the admissions and public relations offices. I was also a part of Her Campus Scranton, where I wrote and edited articles and acted as the Social Media Director. Last summer, I was a marketing intern for the Wilmington Blue Rocks, a minor league baseball team in Delaware. The summer before that, I was a promotions intern for 92.5 XTU and 96.5 AMP Radio, which is now known as Today's 96.5.

Have any interesting hobbies?

Nothing too extraordinary. I love listening to music and going to concerts. I also like to travel and explore places that I've never been before. I try my best to take cool pictures wherever I go. I'm also a huge baseball fan and frequent Phillies and Orioles games. Oh, and I binge-watch way too much TV.

What’s your go-to music when you’re working?

My music taste varies from different genres and my iTunes is all over the place. I can listen to pretty much anything while working, and some of my favorite artists range from The Chainsmokers, Chance the Rapper and Ed Sheeran to Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band.

Tell us something unique about yourself, a fun fact that we don't know.

I studied abroad in Florence for 3 weeks last year and went to London for my family vacation two years ago. I love both cities and hope to live in either for a short amount of time in the future. I also love elephants.

Want to share with us a project you have worked on in the past that you are most proud of?

During my senior year I took a class for all communication majors called Senior Seminar. At the end of the semester, we had to compile a portfolio that consisted of all of our work over the past 4 years that we thought would be relevant to our future careers. I thought it was awesome to see what I had accomplished during my time at Scranton as well as how my skills had improved over the years. A few of my Her Campus articles made it on the Top Chapter Stories section of their website, meaning they were some of the most viewed articles on the entire website, so that was pretty cool too.

Have you seen any industry trends recently that inspired you?

I've been amazed at how much social media has taken over the past couple of years. I've seen companies completely revamp their brand in order to remain up to date with current trends. It's been particularly interesting to see the impact Snapchat and Instagram have had. I feel like they give consumers a look into what an organization is like behind the scenes.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

A lot of different things come to mind. However, one piece of advice that sticks out is "be present." It's taught me not to worry about the future or different outcomes that might happen and to just live in the moment and focus on what is happening around me. It relates to another piece of advice my mom always gave me, "worry when you have to," because I was a little bit of a worry wart when I was younger.
