Responsive Web Design: Where Form Meets Function

The web is such an interesting phenomenom–an artificial form that functions under the guidelines of an organic organism, constantly changing to accommodate the needs of both humans and itself.

With the advent of responsive design, formerly complicated web design processes have been simplified. Vectored shapes and icons are now more important than ever, and using colors rather than textures to convey a feeling and tone has drastically changed the design industry. Fortunately, the days of complicated background images are gone and in their place is a highly versatile canvas that focuses on flexibility and simplicity.

This movement was sparked by the desire for a more flexible browser engine, sidestepping the need for a separate mobile website and allowing browsers to determine the presentation of each web page. The designer’s dread over of how a site would appear on different devices has been largely diminished by media queries, which allow browsers to assess the size of the screen. This communication is key to a responsive website.

AYC Media has fully embraced this change, and these days we only build responsive websites. And as clients become more knowledgeable, we find they are the ones who are driving this responsive movement as well.

Responsive web design is the perfect marriage of both form and function. Working together with the purest form of information and design to push designers and coders to collaborate for best possible user experience.
